For Dr. Wael Zakkour, prosthodontics is the perfect intersection of rigorous science, advanced engineering, and fine art. As a Board-Certified Prosthodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, he belongs to an elite tier of specialists dedicated to restoring not just the function of a smile, but a patient’s quality of life and confidence.
Dr. Zakkour’s journey in dentistry began at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Driven by a desire to master the most complex reconstructive challenges, he moved to Louisiana State University for his advanced specialty training. There, he earned both his Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry, specializing in cutting-edge digital dentistry, implantology, and full-mouth rehabilitation.
In 2021, Dr. Zakkour brought his specialized expertise to Lynchburg. Known for his meticulous precision and empathetic chairside manner, he treats every patient as a whole person, not just a clinical case. He believes the best outcomes are built on a foundation of trust, comprehensive education, and close collaboration with treating specialists and referring doctors.
Believing that true mastery requires a commitment to advancing the field, Dr. Zakkour balances his private practice with research and academia. He currently serves as a clinical instructor at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry, guiding the next generation of dentists. He is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and has published research studies in prestigious, peer-reviewed dental journals. By staying actively involved in clinical innovations, he continuously integrates the latest evidence-based advancements into his daily practice.
Outside of the clinic and the classroom, Dr. Zakkour channels his lifelong love for precision and exploration into the skies as an aviation enthusiast. An avid traveler, he also stays active through fitness, biking, and taking full advantage of the beautiful Virginia outdoor landscape.
